Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Retail, Technology and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.50% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index added 0.33%, and the TecDAX index added 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN), which rose 1.53% or 2.100 points to trade at 139.100 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 1.49% or 0.290 points to end at 19.795 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 1.18% or 0.40 points to 34.01 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Merck KGaA (DE:MRK), which lost 0.52% or 0.510 points to trade at 96.950 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) declined 0.37% or 0.035 points to end at 9.471 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) shed 0.29% or 0.030 points to 10.280.
The top performers on the MDAX were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which rose 4.78% to 33.95, Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which was up 2.68% to settle at 75.920 and Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which gained 2.05% to close at 32.415.
The worst performers were Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was down 1.01% to 27.080 in late trade, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which lost 0.98% to settle at 44.325 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was down 0.90% to 19.180 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which rose 6.61% to 7.790, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was up 2.74% to settle at 70.960 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which gained 2.35% to close at 54.780.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 2.20% to 14.645 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which lost 1.40% to settle at 32.750 and United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was down 0.69% to 39.365 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 510 to 351 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.63% to 17.97.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.14% or 1.90 to $1329.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.56% or 1.13 to hit $43.06 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.26% or 1.04 to trade at $45.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.05% to 1.0981, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.8361.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 97.40.
