Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index declined 2.13% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were FGK Rusgidro PAO (MCX:HYDR), which rose 2.03% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.50 at the close. Magnit PJSC (MCX:MGNT) added 1.77% or 78.00 points to end at 4,486.00 and Aeroflot PJSC (MCX:AFLT) was up 1.52% or 0.81 points to 54.23 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PIK SHb PJSC (MCX:PIKK), which lost 5.61% or 29.30 points to trade at 493.00 in late trade. Rostelekom PJSC (MCX:RTKM) declined 3.42% or 2.10 points to end at 59.26 and ROSSETI PJSC (MCX:FEES) 2.97% or 0.00 points to 0.07.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 207 to 42 and 7 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was up 0.71% to 41.28 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.67% or 46.70 to $2,754.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.80% or 1.92 to hit $70.53 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $74.03 a barrel.
USD/RUB was unchanged 0.00% to 97.37, while EUR/RUB rose 0.01% to 105.98.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 103.81.
