Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index lost 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were PhosAgro PJSC (MCX:PHOR), which rose 2.01% or 109.00 points to trade at 5,542.00 at the close. Polyus PJSC (MCX:PLZL) added 1.43% or 205.50 points to end at 14,571.00 and TKS Holding MKPAO (MCX:TCSG) was up 1.43% or 37.20 points to 2,640.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Transneft PJSC Pref (MCX:TRNF_p), which lost 9.01% or 121.00 points to trade at 1,223.00 in late trade. VK Company Ltd (MCX:VKCO) declined 3.41% or 10.80 points to end at 305.60 and Rostelekom PJSC (MCX:RTKM) shed 3.37% or 2.16 points to 62.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 191 to 57 and 7 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was up 3.82% to 38.03.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.76% or 45.25 to $2,615.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.54% or 2.37 to hit $69.29 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 3.35% or 2.38 to trade at $73.42 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.26% to 99.75, while EUR/RUB rose 0.37% to 105.71.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.45% at 106.14.
