Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia declined 1.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 3.53% or 3.48 points to trade at 102.20 at the close. Safmar Finansovye Investitsii PAO (MCX:SFIN) added 1.93% or 11.6 points to end at 612.0 and NPK OVK PAO (MCX:UWGN) was up 1.42% or 6.0 points to 430.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MTS (MCX:MTSS), which lost 4.99% or 13.30 points to trade at 253.00 in late trade. VTB (MCX:VTBR) declined 3.48% or 0.0014 points to end at 0.0374 and X5 Retail Group NV (MCX:FIVEDR) shed 2.89% or 45.0 points to 1513.5.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 170 to 50 and 15 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 2.10% to 27.670.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.10% or 1.20 to $1224.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 5.45% or 3.12 to hit $54.08 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 5.23% or 3.49 to trade at $63.30 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.68% to 65.9882, while EUR/RUB rose 0.13% to 75.1875.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 96.50.
