Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Power, Mining and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 1.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Lenta Ltd (MCX:LNTADR), which rose 2.55% or 9 points to trade at 362 at the close. Magnit (MCX:MGNT) added 1.71% or 159.0 points to end at 9445.0 and SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) was up 0.69% or 1.05 points to 153.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL), which lost 4.62% or 1.850 points to trade at 38.180 in late trade. Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) declined 4.26% or 0.0430 points to end at 0.9670 and GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR) shed 2.46% or 0.0210 points to 0.8310.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 155 to 72 and 15 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.41% to 16.100.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.47% or 5.99 to $1288.99 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.27% or 0.66 to hit $51.38 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.58% or 0.92 to trade at $57.23 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.10% to 57.3825, while EUR/RUB rose 0.28% to 67.9220.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 93.08.
