Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Power, Telecoms and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.88% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO), which rose 6.62% or 0.1130 points to trade at 1.8200 at the close. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) added 4.56% or 3.41 points to end at 78.21 and MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) was up 4.08% or 382.0 points to 9750.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRO), which lost 2.42% or 27 points to trade at 1088 in late trade. NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) declined 1.41% or 1.32 points to end at 92.01 and Akron (MCX:AKRN) shed 1.32% or 50.0 points to 3725.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 130 to 93 and 25 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.81% to 32.530 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 1.22% or 15.30 to $1235.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.69% or 0.73 to hit $43.91 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.82% or 0.81 to trade at $45.34 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.36% to 66.5957, while EUR/RUB fell 0.46% to 74.809.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.52% at 95.11.
