Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia added 2.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were SG mechel (MCX:MTLR), which rose 5.41% or 8.00 points to trade at 155.75 at the close. United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) added 5.30% or 2.150 points to end at 42.700 and VTB (MCX:VTBR) was up 4.61% or 0.0022 points to 0.0495 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Polyus OAO (MCX:PLZL), which lost 2.81% or 129.0 points to trade at 4466.0 in late trade. MVideo (MCX:MVID) declined 1.73% or 7.20 points to end at 407.80 and DIXY Group ao (MCX:DIXY) shed 0.71% or 2.30 points to 322.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 151 to 64 and 14 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 4.01% to 17.230.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.16% or 2.10 to $1318.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.84% or 1.11 to hit $61.48 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.61% or 1.07 to trade at $67.64 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.62% to 57.2542, while EUR/RUB fell 0.50% to 68.9000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 91.78.
