Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Power and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia rose 1.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which rose 5.90% or 3.50 points to trade at 62.82 at the close. FSK EES (MCX:FEES) unchanged 4.27% or 0.00 points to end at 0.11 and NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) was up 4.07% or 42.60 points to 1,089.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX), which lost 3.75% or 9.36 points to trade at 240.10 in late trade. Bank VTB PAO (MCX:VTBR) unchanged 0.22% or 0.00 points to end at 0.02 and Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank OAO (MCX:CBOM) shed 0.21% or 0.02 points to 7.03.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 181 to 59 and 13 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 8.02% to 25.73 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.31% or 30.40 to $2,348.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.17% or 0.13 to hit $78.49 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.07% or 0.06 to trade at $82.69 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.93% to 89.58, while EUR/RUB rose 1.63% to 95.91.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 105.14.
