Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index added 0.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were OK Rusal MKPAO (MCX:RUAL), which rose 3.84% or 1.29 points to trade at 35.01 at the close. Polyus PJSC (MCX:PLZL) added 1.80% or 261.50 points to end at 14,799.50 and Magnit PJSC (MCX:MGNT) was up 0.09% or 4.00 points to 4,408.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PIK SHb PJSC (MCX:PIKK), which lost 7.92% or 45.10 points to trade at 524.00 in late trade. Aeroflot PJSC (MCX:AFLT) declined 4.74% or 2.66 points to end at 53.45 and AFK Sistema PJSC (MCX:AFKS) shed 4.34% or 0.57 points to 12.47.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 125 to 119 and 12 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was up 5.37% to 40.21.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.65% or 18.00 to $2,799.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.81% or 1.89 to hit $69.10 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $72.66 a barrel.
USD/RUB was unchanged 0.00% to 97.02, while EUR/RUB unchanged 0.00% to 105.34.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 104.00.
