Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 0.59% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Mota Engil (LS:MOTA), which rose 3.64% or 0.0580 points to trade at 1.6520 at the close. The Navigator Company SA (LS:NVGR) added 2.10% or 0.0720 points to end at 3.4960 and Sonae SGPS SA (LS:YSO) was up 1.76% or 0.0140 points to 0.8095 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EDP (LS:EDP), which lost 2.51% or 0.0760 points to trade at 2.9510 in late trade. Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP) declined 1.88% or 0.2650 points to end at 13.8050 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) shed 1.60% or 0.0038 points to 0.2334.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 20 to 10 and 4 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for February delivery was down 3.56% or 2.12 to $57.49 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 4.74% or 2.38 to hit $47.82 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.11% or 1.40 to trade at $1253.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.17% to 1.1366, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8988.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 96.498.
