Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Utilities and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 1.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Semapa (LS:SEM), which rose 3.83% or 0.5000 points to trade at 13.5400 at the close. Ramada Investimentos e Industria SA (LS:RAMA) added 3.29% or 0.250 points to end at 7.850 and Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS) was up 2.81% or 0.1600 points to 5.8500 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which lost 0.34% or 0.0006 points to trade at 0.1780 in late trade. Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP) declined 0.10% or 0.0150 points to end at 14.2900 and EDP (LS:EDP) 0.00% or 0.0000 points to 3.1100.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 24 to 7 and 5 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for February delivery was up 0.95% or 0.57 to $60.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.83% or 0.43 to hit $52.08 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.19% or 2.40 to trade at $1249.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.1363, while EUR/GBP fell 0.78% to 0.8992.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 97.035.
