Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 0.88%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS), which rose 3.99% or 0.2200 points to trade at 5.7300 at the close. EDP (LS:EDP) added 1.29% or 0.0380 points to end at 2.9890 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) was up 1.29% or 0.0030 points to 0.2364 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC), which lost 2.56% or 0.0230 points to trade at 0.8740 in late trade. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) declined 1.57% or 0.0500 points to end at 3.1400 and Corticeira Amorim (LS:CORA) shed 1.20% or 0.110 points to 9.050.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 18 to 14 and 1 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for February delivery was up 2.33% or 1.31 to $57.57 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 3.13% or 1.46 to hit $48.06 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.22% or 2.80 to trade at $1256.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.57% to 1.1427, while EUR/GBP rose 0.46% to 0.9030.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.48% at 96.102.
