Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Sonae (LS:YSO), which rose 1.70% or 0.0165 points to trade at 0.9890 at the close. EDP (LS:EDP) added 1.26% or 0.0440 points to end at 3.5330 and Semapa (LS:SEM) was up 1.24% or 0.2500 points to 20.3500 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ibersol SGPS (LS:IBS), which lost 1.60% or 0.160 points to trade at 9.840 in late trade. Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) declined 0.87% or 0.0020 points to end at 0.2285 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) shed 0.86% or 0.0260 points to 2.9800.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 17 to 14 and 7 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for October delivery was down 2.06% or 1.53 to $72.68 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.50% or 1.03 to hit $67.73 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.49% or 6.00 to trade at $1217.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.21% to 1.1667, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.8894.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 94.45.
