Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Oil & Gas and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which rose 8.93% or 2.50 points to trade at 30.50 at the close. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 6.84% or 0.080 points to end at 1.240 and Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) was up 6.79% or 0.95 points to 14.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR), which lost 7.78% or 0.70 points to trade at 8.55 in late trade. Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) declined 4.26% or 4.00 points to end at 90.00 and Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) shed 3.59% or 0.45 points to 12.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 49 to 40 and 13 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.81% or 1.24 to $69.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.38% or 1.01 to hit $74.22 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.46% or 5.60 to trade at $1217.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.36% to 415.930, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 361.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 95.15.
