Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG), which rose 1.77% or 0.58 points to trade at 33.31 at the close. Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) added 1.09% or 0.56 points to end at 51.90 and Relx PLC (AS:REL) was up 0.22% or 0.040 points to 18.270 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 11.88% or 0.24 points to trade at 1.78 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 2.37% or 0.500 points to end at 20.580 and Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) shed 2.05% or 0.049 points to 2.341.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 88 to 32 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 6.26% to 17.63.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.39% or 0.76 to $53.87 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 1.24% or 0.79 to hit $62.69 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.02% or 0.20 to trade at $1227.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.1404, while EUR/GBP fell 0.63% to 0.8853.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 96.390.
