Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Financial Services and Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC declined 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:MEGACPO), which rose 3.63% or 1.61 points to trade at 45.99 at the close. Becle SA (BMV:CUERVO) added 1.75% or 0.55 points to end at 32.05 and Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (BMV:TLEVISACPO) was up 1.46% or 0.14 points to 9.72 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (BMV:FEMSAUBD), which lost 2.65% or 5.22 points to trade at 191.92 in late trade. Qualitas Controladora, SAB De CV (BMV:Q) declined 2.38% or 4.46 points to end at 182.73 and Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALSEA) shed 1.95% or 1.25 points to 62.96.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 56 to 56 and 14 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.17% or 4.10 to $2,365.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.21% or 0.18 to hit $84.06 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.25% or 0.22 to trade at $87.56 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.34% to 18.10, while EUR/MXN fell 0.22% to 19.57.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 104.82.
