Investing.com – India equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Power and Consumer Durables sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the IT, Technology and Auto sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.07%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which rose 11.86% or 73.65 points to trade at 694.30 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) added 2.95% or 10.10 points to end at 352.60 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was up 1.81% or 6.90 points to 388.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which lost 13.47% or 18.15 points to trade at 117.10 in late trade. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) declined 4.62% or 72.50 points to end at 1488.85 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) shed 1.70% or 17.40 points to 1005.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which rose 1.54% to 193.95, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was up 1.33% to settle at 1502.45 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which gained 1.33% to close at 640.90.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 12.96% to 117.20 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which lost 4.96% to settle at 1490.05 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 1.49% to 742.70 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1074 to 503 and 60 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1559 fell and 880 advanced, while 149 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.27% to 13.6600 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.21% or 2.85 to $1339.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 3.05% or 1.56 to hit $52.70 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 3.42% or 2.05 to trade at $62.02 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.23% to 69.550, while EUR/INR rose 0.26% to 78.4980.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.00% at 96.968.
