Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Capital Goods and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.28%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which rose 2.53% or 34.90 points to trade at 1,416.05 at the close. LTIMindtree Ltd (NS:LTIM) added 1.44% or 73.00 points to end at 5,125.45 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 1.18% or 8.00 points to 684.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC), which lost 2.21% or 240.80 points to trade at 10,662.40 in late trade. Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) declined 2.15% or 70.15 points to end at 3,189.30 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) shed 1.77% or 5.53 points to 307.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 1.65% to 1,403.95, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 0.75% to settle at 1,526.65 and JSW Steel Ltd (BO:JSTL) which gained 0.54% to close at 934.50.
The worst performers were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 2.46% to 10,637.45 in late trade, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which lost 2.12% to settle at 3,521.00 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 1.85% to 960.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1256 to 993 and 24 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1996 fell and 1728 advanced, while 115 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.24% to 13.18.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.30% or 7.10 to $2,376.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $81.26 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.07% or 0.06 to trade at $85.65 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.06% to 83.57, while EUR/INR fell 0.20% to 89.32.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 105.45.
