Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Banking, Consumer Durables and Fast Moving Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.22%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN), which rose 4.31% or 9.25 points to trade at 224.05 at the close. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) added 1.57% or 2.70 points to end at 174.75 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) was up 1.41% or 14.75 points to 1060.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which lost 3.71% or 14.40 points to trade at 374.20 in late trade. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) declined 2.91% or 26.55 points to end at 885.35 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) shed 1.97% or 64.75 points to 3212.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 4.26% to 223.95, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was up 1.83% to settle at 174.90 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which gained 1.23% to close at 639.60.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 3.50% to 374.70 in late trade, Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which lost 2.08% to settle at 3212.60 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was down 2.02% to 330.10 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 976 to 630 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1478 fell and 1120 advanced, while 173 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.74% to 12.4075.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.35% or 4.20 to $1198.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.34% or 0.91 to hit $68.74 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.39% or 1.04 to trade at $75.77 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.47% to 69.955, while EUR/INR rose 0.21% to 81.0730.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 95.33.
