Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Real Estate, Consumer Durables and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.19%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which rose 7.57% or 175.30 points to trade at 2490.00 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) added 3.90% or 22.20 points to end at 591.90 and Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) was up 2.81% or 28.15 points to 1030.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which lost 2.57% or 14.10 points to trade at 535.55 in late trade. GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) declined 2.29% or 9.55 points to end at 407.75 and Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv) shed 2.26% or 5.40 points to 233.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which rose 7.47% to 2486.45, Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which was up 4.04% to settle at 591.45 and Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which gained 3.02% to close at 1032.45.
The worst performers were Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which was down 2.41% to 406.80 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which lost 1.99% to settle at 285.00 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 1.37% to 512.25 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1008 to 550 and 18 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1527 fell and 974 advanced, while 142 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.00% to 11.6325.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.35% or 17.82 to $1298.58 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.55% or 0.28 to hit $50.41 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.53% or 0.30 to trade at $55.99 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.42% to 64.845, while EUR/INR rose 0.93% to 77.1750.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 92.22.
