Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Auto and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.16%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (NS:ARBN), which rose 3.67% or 27.95 points to trade at 789.25 at the close. Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) added 3.22% or 33.15 points to end at 1061.30 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) was up 2.69% or 5.65 points to 216.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML), which lost 4.21% or 20.55 points to trade at 467.95 in late trade. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) declined 2.19% or 83.50 points to end at 3735.85 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) shed 1.85% or 7.90 points to 418.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which rose 3.26% to 1060.90, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 2.69% to settle at 563.20 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which gained 2.14% to close at 215.00.
The worst performers were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was down 2.19% to 3733.05 in late trade, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which lost 1.52% to settle at 188.00 and State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 1.52% to 314.95 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 806 to 779 and 15 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1387 fell and 1316 advanced, while 141 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.09% to 12.0050.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.00% or 0.06 to $1277.24 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $54.31 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.43% or 0.26 to trade at $60.23 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.15% to 64.625, while EUR/INR rose 0.38% to 75.3009.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 94.55.
