Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Metals and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.75% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS), which rose 4.33% or 43.30 points to trade at 1045.85 at the close. Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) added 4.31% or 16.30 points to end at 393.20 and Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) was up 3.55% or 30.20 points to 881.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL), which lost 1.37% or 5.40 points to trade at 387.70 in late trade. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) declined 0.99% or 32.65 points to end at 3242.30 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH) shed 1.06% or 304.85 points to 28476.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 3.76% to 392.95, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 3.18% to settle at 302.00 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which gained 3.09% to close at 215.00.
The worst performers were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was down 1.14% to 3248.60 in late trade, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which lost 0.61% to settle at 163.10 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 0.58% to 9148.30 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 995 to 599 and 62 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1572 rose and 1045 declined, while 148 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.55% to 13.1600.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.03% or 0.30 to $1183.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.53% or 0.35 to hit $65.81 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.99% or 0.71 to trade at $72.14 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.32% to 70.240, while EUR/INR fell 0.00% to 79.7250.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 96.43.
