Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Public Sector Undertakings, Oil & Gas and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.40%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which rose 5.35% or 1042.95 points to trade at 20530.00 at the close. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) added 4.57% or 58.20 points to end at 1331.00 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) was up 3.90% or 8.85 points to 235.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO), which lost 2.86% or 5.25 points to trade at 178.50 in late trade. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 2.01% or 9.00 points to end at 438.55 and Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) shed 1.61% or 20.55 points to 1259.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which rose 4.85% to 1334.55, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 3.55% to settle at 322.00 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which gained 3.06% to close at 4666.00.
The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was down 1.73% to 770.95 in late trade, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which lost 1.66% to settle at 1258.70 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 1.41% to 213.50 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 858 to 667 and 97 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1330 rose and 1043 declined, while 160 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.77% to 13.7800 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.36% or 5.55 to $1568.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.08% or 0.55 to hit $51.30 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.23 to trade at $55.51 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.01% to 71.185, while EUR/INR rose 0.07% to 78.3320.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 98.140.
