Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Oil & Gas and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.17%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which rose 3.32% or 32.95 points to trade at 1025.75 at the close. Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:RELI) added 3.16% or 39.55 points to end at 1290.90 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was up 3.28% or 4.65 points to 146.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which lost 4.21% or 28.60 points to trade at 650.75 in late trade. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) declined 3.45% or 7.30 points to end at 204.20 and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) shed 3.27% or 7.65 points to 226.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which rose 3.52% to 1291.15, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was up 3.03% to settle at 146.35 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which gained 1.67% to close at 2646.10.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 3.13% to 184.40 in late trade, Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which lost 3.10% to settle at 179.90 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 2.10% to 414.35 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1240 to 365 and 63 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1740 fell and 753 advanced, while 167 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.02% to 15.7225.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.53% or 6.95 to $1315.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.52% or 0.29 to hit $55.55 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.94% or 0.59 to trade at $63.34 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.38% to 71.735, while EUR/INR rose 0.36% to 82.1055.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 95.465.
