Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, IT and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.03%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 2.36% or 4.80 points to trade at 208.35 at the close. Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF) added 2.66% or 21.55 points to end at 829.60 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was up 1.99% or 29.70 points to 1526.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which lost 1.04% or 2.90 points to trade at 275.85 in late trade. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) declined 1.50% or 39.15 points to end at 2569.85 and Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) shed 1.18% or 2.35 points to 196.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 2.66% to 208.35, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 2.02% to settle at 1526.90 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 1.38% to close at 736.55.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.38% to 333.00 in late trade, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which lost 1.33% to settle at 196.25 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 1.21% to 1389.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 806 to 750 and 83 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1313 fell and 1172 advanced, while 137 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.18% to 16.0775.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.10% or 1.35 to $1289.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.31% or 0.16 to hit $51.95 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $60.63 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.11% to 71.165, while EUR/INR rose 0.07% to 81.1800.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 95.627.
