Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Travel, Media and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite gained 0.89% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which rose 14.04% or 0.080 points to trade at 0.650 at the close. Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) added 13.30% or 0.0062 points to end at 0.0528 and Nireus Aqua (AT:NIRr) was up 5.38% or 0.009 points to 0.168 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AS Company SA (AT:ASCr), which lost 2.08% or 0.060 points to trade at 2.820 in late trade. Hellenic Telec (AT:OTEr) declined 1.91% or 0.21 points to end at 10.78 and Elton S.A. (AT:ELNr) shed 1.46% or 0.020 points to 1.350.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 79 to 30 and 17 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.25% or 3.30 to $1318.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.03% or 1.12 to hit $54.14 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.94% or 0.59 to trade at $62.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.23% to 1.1427, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8741.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 95.583.
