Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Technology and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverages, Media and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 1.04%, while the MDAX index added 0.46%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which rose 6.24% or 0.720 points to trade at 12.250 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) added 3.46% or 0.865 points to end at 25.895 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) was up 3.00% or 3.100 points to 106.600 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG), which lost 2.15% or 0.295 points to trade at 13.445 in late trade. Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) declined 1.96% or 1.520 points to end at 76.050 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG) shed 0.81% or 0.470 points to 57.670.
The top performers on the MDAX were Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which rose 3.81% to 38.780, Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (XETRA:DWNG) which was up 3.69% to settle at 24.420 and Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which gained 3.39% to close at 8.349.
The worst performers were Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which was down 4.22% to 64.750 in late trade, Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which lost 3.73% to settle at 15.115 and Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which was down 3.26% to 16.300 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which rose 6.77% to 10.330, Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was up 4.14% to settle at 2.994 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which gained 3.85% to close at 6.009.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which was down 5.07% to 45.200 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which lost 4.22% to settle at 39.750 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was down 3.47% to 8.423 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 440 to 235 and 37 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.73% to 21.22 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.19% or 13.60 to $1157.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.73% or 0.36 to hit $49.79 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.35% or 0.18 to trade at $52.87 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.81% to 1.1368, while EUR/GBP rose 1.03% to 0.7422.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.55% at 94.88.
