Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Chemicals, Software and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction, Technology and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.08%, while the MDAX index declined 0.66%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Linde PLC (DE:LINI), which rose 1.83% or 2.750 points to trade at 153.400 at the close. Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) added 1.61% or 1.60 points to end at 101.00 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) was up 1.40% or 0.980 points to 70.960 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 3.42% or 0.257 points to trade at 7.257 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) declined 2.56% or 0.310 points to end at 11.800 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) shed 2.02% or 0.360 points to 17.420.
The top performers on the MDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 3.49% to 22.840, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was up 2.16% to settle at 80.350 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which gained 1.48% to close at 198.80.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 14.90% to 32.100 in late trade, Osram Licht AG (DE:OSRn) which lost 13.39% to settle at 30.28 and Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which was down 10.72% to 125.80 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which rose 6.64% to 38.200, SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which was up 6.28% to settle at 6.43 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which gained 5.86% to close at 14.450.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 16.58% to 18.370 in late trade, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which lost 14.90% to settle at 32.100 and United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was down 6.46% to 31.830 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 349 to 346 and 85 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.19% to 16.94.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.57% or 20.65 to $1296.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.20% or 0.12 to hit $59.29 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.15% or 0.10 to trade at $67.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.16% to 1.1228, while EUR/GBP rose 0.93% to 0.8601.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 96.748.
