Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Food & Beverages and Software sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction, Transportation & Logistics and Retail sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.07%, while the MDAX index declined 0.25%, and the TecDAX index added 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn), which rose 2.15% or 0.71 points to trade at 33.69 at the close. Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) added 1.38% or 3.00 points to end at 220.30 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) was up 1.37% or 0.21 points to 15.59 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR:SY1G), which lost 2.24% or 2.35 points to trade at 102.45 in late trade. Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) declined 1.55% or 3.90 points to end at 247.10 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:HNKG_p) shed 1.46% or 1.24 points to 83.46.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which rose 3.34% to 15.32, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was up 2.71% to settle at 11.36 and HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which gained 1.55% to close at 12.46.
The worst performers were Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which was down 3.38% to 139.90 in late trade, Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which lost 3.13% to settle at 75.75 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (ETR:LHAG) which was down 2.89% to 6.25 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which rose 9.36% to 19.62, SUSS MicroTec SE (ETR:SMHNn) which was up 4.79% to settle at 52.50 and Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKTG) which gained 3.34% to close at 47.90.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which was down 4.23% to 8.50 in late trade, TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which lost 2.80% to settle at 9.86 and Nagarro SE (ETR:NA9n) which was down 2.52% to 81.20 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 333 to 294 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.64% to 13.69.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.38% or 10.24 to $2,651.76 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.63% or 0.44 to hit $70.52 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.05% or 0.77 to trade at $73.96 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.15% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.82.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 106.87.
