Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Construction, Retail and Software sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Media, Telecoms and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.06% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index gained 0.38%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which rose 1.78% or 0.455 points to trade at 26.020 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 1.45% or 0.145 points to end at 10.170 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was up 0.91% or 0.740 points to 82.270 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which lost 0.81% or 0.225 points to trade at 27.715 in late trade. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) declined 0.64% or 0.70 points to end at 108.65 and Siemens AG Class N (DE:SIEGn) shed 0.58% or 0.65 points to 112.25.
The top performers on the MDAX were Fielmann AG (DE:FIEG) which rose 3.65% to 73.070, Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which was up 2.67% to settle at 9.810 and Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which gained 2.61% to close at 108.000.
The worst performers were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was down 5.61% to 50.450 in late trade, STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which lost 1.43% to settle at 80.700 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 1.24% to 53.390 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 2.90% to 18.280, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 0.57% to settle at 58.060 and United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which gained 0.46% to close at 50.230.
The worst performers were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 5.23% to 12.770 in late trade, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which lost 4.66% to settle at 5.160 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 4.29% to 9.643 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 386 to 350 and 53 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.47% to 15.28.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.15% or 2.07 to $1352.37 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.87% or 0.92 to hit $48.17 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.57% or 0.31 to trade at $54.18 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.2039, while EUR/GBP fell 0.63% to 0.9119.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 91.27.
