Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Retail, Utilities and Food & Beverages sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Transportation & Logistics, Insurance and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.48%, while the MDAX index declined 0.04%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING), which rose 0.89% or 1.60 points to trade at 181.40 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 0.73% or 0.175 points to end at 24.215 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was up 0.53% or 0.090 points to 17.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG), which lost 1.29% or 0.400 points to trade at 30.720 in late trade. BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) declined 1.12% or 1.040 points to end at 91.740 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) shed 1.12% or 1.02 points to 89.75.
The top performers on the MDAX were Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which rose 2.98% to 12.605, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was up 1.93% to settle at 0.32 and Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which gained 1.70% to close at 26.000.
The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 1.38% to 70.940 in late trade, Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which lost 1.38% to settle at 61.600 and Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO Pref (DE:FPEG_p) which was down 1.15% to 44.250 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were S&T AG (F:SANT1) which rose 2.83% to 17.930, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was up 2.61% to settle at 47.75 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 2.49% to close at 25.950.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was down 2.07% to 13.500 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 1.30% to settle at 121.300 and Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which was down 1.18% to 27.545 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 411 to 380 and 30 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.22% to 14.15.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.77% or 10.00 to $1307.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.65% or 0.39 to hit $60.23 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.83% or 0.55 to trade at $66.71 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.65% to 1.2020, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8884.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.54% at 91.84.
