Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Software, Transportation & Logistics and Technology sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Food & Beverages and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.44%, while the MDAX index declined 0.22%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG), which rose 1.43% or 0.390 points to trade at 27.620 at the close. SAP SE (DE:SAPG) added 0.88% or 0.750 points to end at 86.200 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn) was up 0.80% or 0.300 points to 37.640 in late trade.
Biggest losers included E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which lost 2.36% or 0.202 points to trade at 8.360 in late trade. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) declined 1.91% or 1.87 points to end at 96.23 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) shed 1.89% or 0.254 points to 13.200.
The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which rose 2.90% to 0.40, Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which was up 1.88% to settle at 40.020 and Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which gained 1.85% to close at 60.550.
The worst performers were Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which was down 3.99% to 100.950 in late trade, Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which lost 2.89% to settle at 70.48 and CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which was down 2.68% to 40.020 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which rose 10.56% to 30.560, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was up 6.57% to settle at 26.600 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which gained 3.04% to close at 35.60.
The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 2.37% to 111.000 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 2.29% to settle at 9.476 and S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was down 2.18% to 20.600 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 447 to 266 and 93 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.44% to 19.39.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.24% or 3.10 to $1321.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.02% or 0.64 to hit $62.37 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.29% or 0.86 to trade at $65.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.10% to 1.2221, while EUR/GBP rose 0.68% to 0.8855.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 90.42.
