Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Retail, Food & Beverages and Consumer & Cyclical sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction, Software and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.39%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.78%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG), which rose 4.37% or 2.14 points to trade at 51.06 at the close. Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR:SY1G) added 2.15% or 2.60 points to end at 123.45 and Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) was up 1.78% or 0.59 points to 33.67 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG), which lost 3.15% or 2.46 points to trade at 75.66 in late trade. SAP SE (ETR:SAPG) declined 2.44% or 5.05 points to end at 201.80 and Mercedes Benz Group AG (ETR:MBGn) shed 1.67% or 0.95 points to 55.88.
The top performers on the MDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which rose 5.20% to 63.75, Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which was up 5.03% to settle at 129.40 and Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which gained 4.87% to close at 33.61.
The worst performers were TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which was down 4.93% to 11.20 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which lost 3.93% to settle at 14.18 and HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was down 2.75% to 8.57 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which rose 5.20% to 63.75, SUSS MicroTec SE (ETR:SMHNn) which was up 4.74% to settle at 61.90 and Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) which gained 4.37% to close at 51.06.
The worst performers were TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which was down 4.93% to 11.20 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which lost 3.93% to settle at 14.18 and SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 2.79% to 17.10 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 334 to 273 and 31 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.68% to 14.68.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.17% or 4.45 to $2,681.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.08% or 1.49 to hit $70.07 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.61% or 1.20 to trade at $73.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.32% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 100.51.
