Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Construction and Media sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Chemicals, Basic Resources and Retail sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.14%, while the MDAX index gained 0.05%, and the TecDAX index added 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG), which rose 1.87% or 1.300 points to trade at 71.000 at the close. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) added 1.42% or 1.170 points to end at 83.510 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) was up 1.19% or 2.20 points to 186.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Linde AG 1 (DE:LIN1), which lost 7.47% or 15.7000 points to trade at 194.5000 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) declined 0.91% or 0.200 points to end at 21.670 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) shed 0.69% or 0.160 points to 23.060.
The top performers on the MDAX were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which rose 4.41% to 56.800, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was up 2.80% to settle at 49.86 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which gained 2.44% to close at 37.440.
The worst performers were Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which was down 2.72% to 7.088 in late trade, Osram Licht AG (DE:OSRn) which lost 2.74% to settle at 39.71 and Deutsche Euroshop AG (DE:DEQGn) which was down 1.31% to 30.180 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which rose 4.09% to 292.50, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was up 2.00% to settle at 107.100 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which gained 2.15% to close at 68.900.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 3.49% to 9.170 in late trade, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which lost 2.20% to settle at 49.000 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 2.67% to 127.60 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 386 to 325 and 71 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.96% to 16.34.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.36% or 4.40 to $1218.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.80% or 1.23 to hit $69.72 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.22% or 0.89 to trade at $74.10 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.1561, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.8933.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 95.16.
