Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Chemicals and Technology sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Construction, Utilities and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.03%, while the MDAX index gained 0.09%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n), which rose 2.77% or 0.84 points to trade at 31.19 at the close. BASF SE NA O.N. (ETR:BASFN) added 2.37% or 1.05 points to end at 45.44 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG) was up 2.19% or 1.60 points to 74.52 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn), which lost 1.36% or 0.88 points to trade at 63.70 in late trade. Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR:SY1G) declined 1.35% or 1.65 points to end at 120.50 and RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) shed 1.28% or 0.42 points to 32.28.
The top performers on the MDAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) which rose 2.58% to 3.06, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was up 2.29% to settle at 8.84 and Traton SE (ETR:8TRA) which gained 2.26% to close at 29.45.
The worst performers were Puma SE (ETR:PUMG) which was down 2.46% to 37.32 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which lost 1.34% to settle at 58.75 and Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which was down 1.30% to 29.60 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which rose 1.93% to 68.50, SUSS MicroTec SE (ETR:SMHNn) which was up 1.57% to settle at 58.40 and 11 AG (ETR:1U1) which gained 1.50% to close at 13.54.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 1.34% to 58.75 in late trade, Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which lost 1.25% to settle at 15.80 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which was down 1.02% to 13.63 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 313 to 275 and 38 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.18% to 15.09.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.16% or 4.25 to $2,596.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.61% or 0.43 to hit $69.53 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.65% or 0.48 to trade at $73.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 100.58.
