Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Food & Beverage and Retail sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Insurance and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.05% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index gained 0.97%, and the TecDAX index added 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG), which rose 1.52% or 0.350 points to trade at 23.340 at the close. K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) added 1.44% or 0.400 points to end at 28.250 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) was up 1.38% or 2.900 points to 212.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bayer AG NA (XETRA:BAYGN), which lost 1.46% or 1.900 points to trade at 127.800 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) declined 1.02% or 0.240 points to end at 23.335 and E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) shed 0.98% or 0.130 points to 13.150.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which rose 3.95% to 25.420, STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (XETRA:STAGn) which was up 3.00% to settle at 28.305 and Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which gained 2.87% to close at 64.570.
The worst performers were Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which was down 4.80% to 41.527 in late trade, Sky Deutschland AG NA (XETRA:SKYDn) which lost 0.86% to settle at 6.659 and LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) which was down 0.45% to 70.490 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which rose 7.44% to 24.700, Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which was up 4.24% to settle at 39.445 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which gained 4.23% to close at 12.570.
The worst performers were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (XETRA:O2Dn) which was down 3.33% to 4.735 in late trade, Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which lost 1.15% to settle at 34.915 and Morphosys AG O.N. (XETRA:MORG) which was down 1.09% to 74.400 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 486 to 246 and 26 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.83% to 19.31.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.17% or 2.10 to $1262.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 5.61% or 2.72 to hit $51.17 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 5.25% or 2.85 to trade at $57.01 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.82% to 1.1437, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.7477.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.68% at 93.93.
