Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the DAX Telecom, DAX Utilities and DAX Technology sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the DAX Basic Resources, DAX Industrial and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.25%, while the MDAX index lost 0.35%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn), which rose 2.56% or 0.645 points to trade at 25.795 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) added 1.67% or 0.255 points to end at 15.490 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) was up 1.51% or 0.149 points to 9.999 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG), which lost 1.71% or 0.880 points to trade at 50.520 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) declined 1.63% or 0.375 points to end at 22.625 and Siemens AG NA (XETRA:SIEGn) shed 1.49% or 1.420 points to 93.600.
The top performers on the MDAX were DMG Mori Seiki AG (XETRA:GILG) which rose 2.88% to 29.305, Norma Group AG NA O.N. (XETRA:NOEJ) which was up 2.29% to settle at 44.020 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (XETRA:DWNG) which gained 1.67% to close at 23.420.
The worst performers were Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which was down 2.89% to 33.990 in late trade, Hochtief AG (XETRA:HOTG) which lost 2.80% to settle at 61.830 and Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which was down 2.39% to 9.108 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which rose 2.47% to 88.380, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (XETRA:O2Dn) which was up 1.05% to settle at 4.891 and Software AG O.N. (XETRA:SOWG) which gained 0.70% to close at 23.145.
The worst performers were BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was down 4.91% to 244.150 in late trade, Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which lost 4.64% to settle at 2.837 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 4.35% to 10.455 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 419 to 313 and 21 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 20.38.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 2.39% or 30.80 to $1256.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 1.33% or 0.59 to hit $43.86 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 0.15% or 0.07 to trade at $48.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.03% to 1.1286, while EUR/GBP rose 0.63% to 0.7503.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.33% at 95.20.
