Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Software, Technology and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.39% to hit a new 3-month low, while the MDAX index fell 1.12%, and the TecDAX index lost 2.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 3.15% or 0.259 points to trade at 8.487 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 0.33% or 0.032 points to end at 9.871 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 0.18% or 0.08 points to 43.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which lost 3.18% or 0.690 points to trade at 21.010 in late trade. SAP SE (DE:SAPG) declined 3.11% or 3.180 points to end at 99.220 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) shed 2.80% or 0.600 points to 20.860.
The top performers on the MDAX were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which rose 3.14% to 55.850, Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which was up 1.03% to settle at 12.76 and Metro Wholesale & Food Specialist AG (DE:B4B) which gained 0.63% to close at 13.5500.
The worst performers were Rocket Internet (DE:RKET) which was down 3.96% to 28.60 in late trade, Puma SE (DE:PUMG) which lost 3.84% to settle at 438.00 and Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was down 3.39% to 42.45 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which rose 3.35% to 10.640, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENGn) which was up 2.22% to settle at 33.100 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 0.71% to close at 22.580.
The worst performers were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 8.63% to 12.500 in late trade, Isra Vision O.N. (DE:ISRG) which lost 8.39% to settle at 53.50 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 7.87% to 27.620 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 552 to 156 and 68 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 5.88% to 18.46.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.32% or 3.80 to $1202.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.27% or 0.89 to hit $68.98 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.96% or 0.75 to trade at $77.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.38% to 1.1626, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.9011.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 95.10.
