Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer & Cyclical, Chemicals and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.88%, while the MDAX index declined 0.30%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which rose 0.81% or 0.075 points to trade at 9.289 at the close. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) added 0.48% or 0.50 points to end at 104.70 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was up 0.41% or 0.340 points to 82.780 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which lost 6.81% or 14.10 points to trade at 193.10 in late trade. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) declined 3.90% or 3.380 points to end at 83.300 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) shed 3.00% or 0.324 points to 10.488.
The top performers on the MDAX were Osram Licht AG (DE:OSRn) which rose 2.25% to 51.80, STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which was up 1.61% to settle at 83.520 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which gained 1.56% to close at 84.780.
The worst performers were Rocket Internet (DE:RKET) which was down 3.45% to 24.04 in late trade, Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which lost 2.13% to settle at 61.500 and Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which was down 1.76% to 109.100 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which rose 10.32% to 139.55, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was up 6.24% to settle at 47.000 and Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which gained 2.19% to close at 28.050.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 3.75% to 9.192 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which lost 3.52% to settle at 13.310 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 3.47% to 20.600 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 438 to 254 and 74 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 5.55% to 16.17.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.61% or 7.90 to $1313.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $67.92 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.08% or 0.06 to trade at $73.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.1972, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.8822.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 92.37.
