Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Construction, Utilities and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.45%, while the MDAX index fell 1.28%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n), which rose 4.54% or 2.22 points to trade at 51.10 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) added 2.09% or 0.32 points to end at 15.42 and Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) was up 1.27% or 7.80 points to 623.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn), which lost 4.12% or 1.28 points to trade at 29.76 in late trade. Mercedes Benz Group AG (ETR:MBGn) declined 3.86% or 2.18 points to end at 54.35 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG) shed 3.17% or 2.54 points to 77.62.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which rose 3.42% to 78.55, Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) which was up 1.11% to settle at 45.60 and Scout24 AG (ETR:G24n) which gained 0.92% to close at 87.75.
The worst performers were Traton SE (ETR:8TRA) which was down 7.57% to 28.70 in late trade, Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which lost 6.29% to settle at 29.64 and Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) which was down 5.17% to 24.21 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (ETR:EVTG) which rose 6.34% to 8.80, TeamViewer AG (ETR:TMV) which was up 0.89% to settle at 10.17 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:DTEGn) which gained 0.67% to close at 30.00.
The worst performers were Nagarro SE (ETR:NA9n) which was down 9.78% to 83.95 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which lost 4.25% to settle at 13.51 and Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKTG) which was down 2.91% to 46.65 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 447 to 209 and 26 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.99% to 13.13.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.20% or 5.24 to $2,670.56 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.57% or 1.12 to hit $70.17 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.93% or 0.69 to trade at $73.80 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.48% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 106.55.
