Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Software, Basic Resources and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.28%, while the MDAX index lost 0.19%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 1.97% or 0.330 points to trade at 17.045 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) added 0.94% or 0.820 points to end at 88.230 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 0.68% or 0.28 points to 40.98 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 1.24% or 0.205 points to trade at 16.315 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) declined 0.95% or 0.230 points to end at 23.930 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) shed 0.94% or 0.120 points to 12.630.
The top performers on the MDAX were Innogy SE (DE:IGY) which rose 2.34% to 32.550, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was up 1.34% to settle at 162.25 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which gained 1.28% to close at 73.64.
The worst performers were Deutsche Euroshop AG (DE:DEQGn) which was down 2.39% to 33.345 in late trade, Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which lost 1.43% to settle at 12.750 and Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which was down 1.42% to 25.020 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which rose 6.87% to 45.74, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was up 1.42% to settle at 80.570 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which gained 1.39% to close at 12.775.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 2.76% to 35.365 in late trade, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which lost 1.69% to settle at 12.210 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 1.00% to 68.160 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 426 to 352 and 38 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.66% to 12.71.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.62% or 7.90 to $1278.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.22% or 0.13 to hit $58.23 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.08 to trade at $64.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.19% to 1.1852, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8858.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 92.94.
