Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrial, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Media sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.54%, while the MDAX index fell 1.89%, and the TecDAX index fell 2.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG), which rose 1.79% or 0.235 points to trade at 13.360 at the close. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) added 0.51% or 0.070 points to end at 13.815 and Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) was down 0.25% or 0.190 points to 74.830 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Daimler AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DAIGn), which lost 4.26% or 4.080 points to trade at 91.710 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) declined 3.48% or 0.885 points to end at 24.570 and K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) shed 3.00% or 0.985 points to 31.855.
The top performers on the MDAX were Fraport AG (XETRA:FRAG) which rose 1.09% to 55.600, Talanx AG NA O.N. (XETRA:TLXGn) which was up 0.53% to settle at 31.395 and DMG Mori Seiki AG (XETRA:GILG) which gained 0.20% to close at 30.690.
The worst performers were Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which was down 4.42% to 61.123 in late trade, Rheinmetall AG (XETRA:RHMG) which lost 3.36% to settle at 45.735 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (XETRA:BOSSn) which was down 3.29% to 114.700 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (XETRA:O2Dn) which rose 2.49% to 5.390, Bechtle AG O.N. (XETRA:BC8G) which was down 0.30% to settle at 75.590 and Software AG O.N. (XETRA:SOWG) which lost 0.70% to close at 26.095.
The worst performers were BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was down 7.53% to 305.250 in late trade, Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which lost 6.33% to settle at 44.025 and Jenoptik AG O.N. (XETRA:JENG) which was down 4.54% to 12.815 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 592 to 141 and 36 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 15.40% to 19.63.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.39% or 4.50 to $1148.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in May fell 0.82% or 0.38 to hit $45.75 a barrel, while the May Brent Oil contract fell 0.58% or 0.32 to trade at $53.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.26% to 1.0595, while EUR/GBP rose 0.83% to 0.7185.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 99.97.
