Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Consumer & Cyclical and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 2.77%, while the MDAX index added 2.57%, and the TecDAX index gained 3.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn), which rose 4.60% or 0.420 points to trade at 9.543 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) added 4.43% or 0.680 points to end at 16.025 and Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) was up 4.42% or 7.750 points to 183.100 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p), which lost 4.32% or 4.850 points to trade at 107.300 in late trade. RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) declined 1.05% or 0.102 points to end at 9.602 and Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) gained 0.42% or 0.175 points to 42.215.
The top performers on the MDAX were Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which rose 4.54% to 61.750, Kion Group AG (XETRA:KGX) which was up 4.06% to settle at 38.10 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (XETRA:BOSSn) which gained 3.92% to close at 99.760.
The worst performers were Leoni AG NA O.N. (XETRA:LEOGn) which was down 2.41% to 46.250 in late trade, Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which lost 0.59% to settle at 17.795 and Man SE ST O.N. (XETRA:MANG) which was down 0.36% to 90.760 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which rose 7.99% to 29.730, Jenoptik AG O.N. (XETRA:JENG) which was up 5.31% to settle at 12.500 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which gained 5.20% to close at 32.165.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (XETRA:AFXG) which was down 1.74% to 24.600 in late trade, Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which lost 0.23% to settle at 2.601 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which was up 0.03% to 79.830 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 547 to 125 and 39 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 8.17% to 25.98.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.70% or 8.10 to $1145.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.16% or 0.52 to hit $45.43 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.13% or 0.07 to trade at $48.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.29% to 1.1199, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.7380.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.30% at 96.39.
