Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Construction, Transportation & Logistics and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.92% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index gained 0.58%, and the TecDAX index gained 1.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (DE:BMWG), which rose 3.50% or 3.250 points to trade at 96.030 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) added 3.26% or 0.440 points to end at 13.950 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) was up 2.56% or 0.465 points to 18.640 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (DE:HNKG_p), which lost 2.12% or 2.110 points to trade at 97.310 in late trade. Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) declined 1.54% or 0.770 points to end at 49.340 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) shed 1.35% or 1.200 points to 88.010.
The top performers on the MDAX were Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which rose 6.84% to 38.605, Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (DE:ZILGn) which was up 5.20% to settle at 22.040 and Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which gained 3.81% to close at 62.450.
The worst performers were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (DE:SZUG) which was down 1.97% to 17.455 in late trade, Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which lost 1.82% to settle at 24.545 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which was down 0.96% to 44.22 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which rose 5.54% to 57.170, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 5.02% to settle at 43.265 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which gained 4.13% to close at 108.350.
The worst performers were Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was down 1.09% to 176.550 in late trade, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which lost 0.89% to settle at 68.150 and QSC AG NA O.N. (DE:QSCG) which was down 0.58% to 1.725 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 438 to 249 and 34 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.14% to 20.15.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.45% or 16.00 to $1088.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.48% or 0.67 to hit $44.53 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.91% or 0.43 to trade at $47.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.34% to 1.0737, while EUR/GBP fell 0.32% to 0.7133.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.24% at 99.30.
