Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Technology and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.68%, while the MDAX index climbed 1.20%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which rose 3.36% or 0.301 points to trade at 9.272 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 3.24% or 0.630 points to end at 20.060 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was up 3.14% or 2.160 points to 70.940 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which lost 1.93% or 0.183 points to trade at 9.297 in late trade. Covestro AG (DE:1COV) declined 0.56% or 0.440 points to end at 77.600 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) shed 0.38% or 0.090 points to 23.690.
The top performers on the MDAX were Airbus Group SE (DE:AIRG) which rose 4.37% to 104.58, Metro Wholesale & Food Specialist AG (DE:B4B) which was up 3.26% to settle at 11.4000 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which gained 2.97% to close at 166.60.
The worst performers were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which was down 1.37% to 68.400 in late trade, Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which lost 1.30% to settle at 13.69 and Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which was down 1.13% to 109.650 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which rose 3.49% to 13.500, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was up 3.23% to settle at 22.400 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which gained 3.13% to close at 156.300.
The worst performers were Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which was down 4.46% to 37.720 in late trade, SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which lost 3.12% to settle at 35.75 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 0.76% to 13.070 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 483 to 220 and 83 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 11.58% to 12.78 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.46% or 6.00 to $1307.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.08% or 0.05 to hit $66.69 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.87% or 0.67 to trade at $76.07 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.40% to 1.1626, while EUR/GBP fell 0.98% to 0.8730.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.03% at 94.52.
