Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Telecoms and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.63%, while the MDAX index gained 0.98%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG), which rose 2.71% or 2.200 points to trade at 83.260 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) added 2.66% or 4.44 points to end at 171.44 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 2.24% or 0.89 points to 40.71 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG), which lost 5.31% or 1.360 points to trade at 24.250 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) declined 1.31% or 0.290 points to end at 21.890 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) shed 1.30% or 0.156 points to 11.834.
The top performers on the MDAX were Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which rose 4.27% to 24.920, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was up 4.25% to settle at 75.560 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which gained 2.51% to close at 147.30.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 13.51% to 0.13 in late trade, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which lost 4.19% to settle at 74.500 and Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which was down 2.84% to 105.900 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which rose 7.30% to 21.160, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was up 4.95% to settle at 21.200 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which gained 4.13% to close at 126.000.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 5.81% to 13.852 in late trade, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which lost 3.79% to settle at 5.580 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which was down 2.98% to 13.030 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 462 to 222 and 84 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.20% to 15.64.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.36% or 4.80 to $1318.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.21% or 0.14 to hit $67.91 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.31 to trade at $74.31 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.36% to 1.2117, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.8698.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 91.28.
