Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Industrial and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 2.66% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index climbed 2.12%, and the TecDAX index added 2.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG), which rose 4.97% or 5.650 points to trade at 119.350 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) added 4.73% or 10.950 points to end at 242.250 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DAIGn) was up 3.80% or 3.370 points to 92.070 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DPWGn), which lost 1.74% or 0.525 points to trade at 29.725 in late trade. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) added 0.32% or 0.600 points to end at 189.450 and RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) gained 1.29% or 0.305 points to 23.980.
The top performers on the MDAX were Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which rose 6.45% to 43.517, Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which was up 4.43% to settle at 61.366 and Krones AG O.N. (XETRA:KRNG) which gained 3.41% to close at 91.990.
The worst performers were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was down 2.22% to 12.775 in late trade, A.Springer AG VNA (XETRA:SPRGn) which lost 1.97% to settle at 53.770 and Kabel Deutschland Holding AG O.N. (XETRA:KD8Gn) which was down 0.73% to 121.650 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which rose 8.20% to 99.930, Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which was up 8.04% to settle at 4.110 and BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which gained 4.16% to close at 304.500.
The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was down 1.60% to 123.300 in late trade, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which gained 0.30% to settle at 76.200 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was up 0.41% to 12.200 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 574 to 163 and 29 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 15.81.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.86% or 10.00 to $1150.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 1.06% or 0.51 to hit $47.78 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 1.55% or 0.88 to trade at $57.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.19% to 1.0569, while EUR/GBP fell 0.44% to 0.7069.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.97% at 99.56.
