Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Retail and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.41% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index added 0.20%, and the TecDAX index added 0.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG), which rose 3.38% or 0.805 points to trade at 24.650 at the close. Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) added 2.33% or 1.085 points to end at 47.650 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) was up 1.86% or 4.200 points to 229.850 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which lost 2.62% or 0.655 points to trade at 24.300 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) declined 2.03% or 0.290 points to end at 14.000 and SAP AG O.N. (XETRA:SAPG) shed 0.19% or 0.120 points to 63.470.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which rose 4.52% to 26.915, Wacker Chemie O.N. (XETRA:WCHG) which was up 3.35% to settle at 111.100 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which gained 3.20% to close at 53.820.
The worst performers were Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (XETRA:DWNG) which was down 2.89% to 23.695 in late trade, LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) which lost 1.76% to settle at 70.790 and Hochtief AG (XETRA:HOTG) which was down 1.29% to 71.000 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which rose 4.85% to 141.600, BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was up 3.85% to settle at 294.000 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which gained 3.04% to close at 77.020.
The worst performers were Qiagen NV (XETRA:QGEN) which was down 0.90% to 22.570 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which lost 0.81% to settle at 123.000 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which was down 0.75% to 93.990 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 494 to 243 and 30 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 10.56% to 16.64.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 2.42% or 28.90 to $1167.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 1.77% or 0.90 to hit $49.86 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 0.59% or 0.35 to trade at $60.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.60% to 1.0852, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.7210.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.35% at 97.70.
