Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Insurance, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Software sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.08% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index added 0.25%, and the TecDAX index added 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG), which rose 2.25% or 2.070 points to trade at 94.270 at the close. Allianz SE VNA O.N. (XETRA:ALVG) added 1.10% or 1.650 points to end at 151.250 and Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG) was up 1.06% or 1.200 points to 114.200 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG), which lost 2.02% or 1.440 points to trade at 69.690 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) declined 1.77% or 0.255 points to end at 14.190 and Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) shed 1.34% or 0.980 points to 71.920.
The top performers on the MDAX were Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which rose 1.97% to 56.233, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (XETRA:BOSSn) which was up 1.39% to settle at 116.600 and Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which gained 1.33% to close at 20.975.
The worst performers were Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which was down 5.66% to 29.340 in late trade, Kion Group AG (XETRA:KGX) which lost 2.40% to settle at 38.00 and Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (XETRA:RHKG) which was down 2.19% to 22.955 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which rose 3.55% to 12.685, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was up 3.32% to settle at 1.869 and Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which gained 3.10% to close at 19.285.
The worst performers were Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which was down 2.55% to 3.750 in late trade, Morphosys AG O.N. (XETRA:MORG) which lost 1.73% to settle at 73.190 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which was down 1.61% to 27.165 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 405 to 345 and 27 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.64% to 15.34.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.36% or 4.40 to $1208.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in April rose 1.05% or 0.52 to hit $50.28 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 3.88% or 2.42 to trade at $60.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.1180, while EUR/GBP rose 0.42% to 0.7278.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 95.51.
