Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Media and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.73% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.99%, and the TecDAX index added 1.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn), which rose 2.72% or 1.930 points to trade at 72.830 at the close. Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG) added 2.22% or 1.950 points to end at 89.650 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) was up 1.62% or 3.650 points to 228.650 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG), which lost 1.12% or 0.260 points to trade at 22.925 in late trade. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) declined 0.60% or 0.095 points to end at 15.820 and Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) shed 0.58% or 0.265 points to 45.085.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aareal Bank AG (XETRA:ARLG) which rose 5.98% to 38.705, Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which was up 4.20% to settle at 94.000 and Tag Immobilien AG (XETRA:TEGG) which gained 2.85% to close at 12.280.
The worst performers were Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which was down 3.25% to 52.960 in late trade, Metro AG ST O.N. (XETRA:MEOG) which lost 2.27% to settle at 30.200 and Hochtief AG (XETRA:HOTG) which was down 1.68% to 67.880 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which rose 4.02% to 43.745, Morphosys AG O.N. (XETRA:MORG) which was up 3.43% to settle at 78.420 and PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which gained 3.33% to close at 12.565.
The worst performers were QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was down 11.58% to 1.725 in late trade, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which lost 3.88% to settle at 73.000 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 2.95% to 12.000 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 489 to 242 and 34 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 9.74% to 17.05 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.52% or 6.30 to $1198.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 3.29% or 1.67 to hit $49.14 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 1.64% or 0.98 to trade at $59.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.39% to 1.1339, while EUR/GBP fell 0.72% to 0.7332.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 94.64.
